Our high-security LPS1175 rated shutters are tested and certified by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) for their strength against forced and unauthorised entry. These shutters are designed to protect properties that demand serious security performance.
The LPS1175 test measures how long a shutter can resist an attack and what kind of tools are needed to break through it. The test stops only when there’s an opening big enough for someone to get through — at least 400mm by 225mm. Each security level is known as an SR rating. The higher the rating the tougher the shutter.
SR1 – Protects against opportunist attacks using basic tools like screwdrivers or pliers.
SR2 – Handles more determined attempts with tools such as drills or bolt cutters.
SR3 – Built to resist deliberate forced entry with stronger tools like crowbars or gas torches.
SR4 – Defends against experienced intruders using heavy equipment such as sledgehammers or disc grinders.
SR5 – Provides the highest level of protection against serious attacks using professional power tools.
The higher the SR level the higher the cost but also the greater your peace of mind.
